Removing Brake Rotor Rust
This is a super quick and easy method to remove brake rotor rust. No special tools required, however it’s easiest to remove the wheel with a jack, but not necessary! Keep reading for tips on removing rust from brake rotors.
What I used:
- 3M Scotch Brite Pads (Cheaper to pick up at Home Depot)
- Rinseless wash (ONR or Mckees N914)
- Non-Marring Socket Set
- Arcan Jack
I used a rinseless to help remove the rust from the brake rotors and also to keep it from coming up. That way I didn’t have to breathe in the rust. Mckees N914 rinseless really helped speed up the rust removal process and is a product that doesn’t leave anything behind so I felt safe using it here.
First start off by jacking up the car and removing the wheel. This will give you easy access to clean the brake rotor. Then spray some rinseless, scrub with the 3M scotch brite pad, rinse and repeat! The rust came off of the brake rotors really quickly. It was about a 5 minute job (aside from removing the wheel). I was extremely satisfied with the results for the amount of time I put in.
